Level 2 Acting Course in Oxford
- For those who have had previous acting experience or training
- For all ages over 18
Typically includes:
- Experiment with various acting techniques to deepen your craft and confidence
- Learn personal warm-up routines for vocal and physical preparedness.
- Introduction to Monologues
- Devise your own scene from an actor’s perspective
- Develop independence in rehearsing, auditioning, and character-building.
- Explore Uta Hagen, Ken Rea, animal studies, monologues, physical theatre, and Shakespeare

Summary:
The Level 2 course focuses on building independence in performance. You’ll develop techniques for rehearsals, auditions, and character work, creating a personalized toolkit for practice outside class.
You’ll explore various acting styles and practitioners like Uta Hagen and Ken Rea, working with monologues, physical theatre, and classical texts. The course encourages reflection, feedback, and by the end, you’ll confidently apply your skills in performance.
The course concludes with an informal showcase, where you’ll present short scenes in small groups. This final sharing helps manage nerves and celebrates your progress with the TAL community.
Meet the Core Tutor
Matt Addis
Matt made his West-End debut in Boeing Boeing in 2007 and has since worked extensively on stage and screen across the globe. He joined the BBC Radio Drama Company in 2009 and has been heard in hundreds of radio dramas, comedies and documentaries. He is an award winning audiobook narrator.
His stage work includes WarHorse with the Royal National Theatre, Murder on the Orient Express at Chichester Festival Theatre and The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) on tour.
He has been teaching for many years and is excited for the opportunity for actors of all abilities to become part of an exciting new community. He firmly believes in getting people out of their comfort zones and doing this in a supportive, encouraging and most of all fun learning environment. He thinks that acting has a unique ability to unlock a new side of people and build their confidence and that seeing this unfold for his students over the duration of the course, alongside their technical progress, is truly rewarding.
