Summary:
Level 3 focuses on refining your acting skills and on "industry-readiness" with guidance from a supportive Core Tutor and visiting industry professionals. You’ll deepen your craft, build on established methods, and develop new skills in improvisation, voice work, preparing you for professional work. You'll learn effective audition techniques, receive advice about headshots and Spotlight profiles and get the chance to shoot your own showreel.
You’ll also tackle diverse, challenging roles, exploring various ages, genders, and emotions, all while honing advanced techniques in a relaxed, enjoyable environment aimed at achieving the "flow state" in performance.
The course also emphasises stage presence and charisma, helping you command attention and create memorable, engaging performances as well as help you make lasting impressions on casting directors and agents. You’ll also explore devising and writing original work and group projects will teach you collaboration, essential for success in professional environments. Additionally, you’ll continue refining vocal and movement techniques, expanding your ability to express emotions and stories physically and vocally.
The term ends with a showcase performance, where you’ll present scenes to peers, tutors, and family. This informal event celebrates your progress and you'll experience the strong sense of the TAL community.
Meet the Core Tutor
Robyn Holdaway
Robyn is a non-binary actor best known for their work as Layla in Netflix's 'Sex Education'. Their credits also include: AMC's 'Moonhaven', BBC's 'Strike: Lethal White', and various other stage and screen roles. Their audiobook work includes the award winning 'Our Wives Under the Sea', as well as critically acclaimed 'Sistersong', 'How To Understand Your Gender', and 'Skin'. They are an active member of the LGBTQ community, and they are passionate about bringing this diversity into the mainstream both as an artist and as an activist. They have been teaching drama to all ages for over fourteen years, at various youth theatres and theatre schools across the country. Robyn has helped with auditions, skills development, and assisting their students to land places at Drama School. They are committed to creating a safe and inclusive working environment, and helping each student to reach their full potential.
