The Actor’s Lounge Terms & Agreement

Illness / Health Conditions

Do not attend any classes if you have any serious health condition unless you have spoken to us first. If someone has a serious illness or condition, it is considered high risk or has someone at home who is considered vulnerable, they are entering the course at their own risk and The Actor’s Lounge (hereon referred to as TAL) will not be held responsible. By agreeing to this you take full responsibility for your health and safety.

Attendance

It is important that you contact TAL with as much notice as possible if you cannot attend a session. Missed sessions are not refundable.

Punctuality

Each student is expected to arrive 10 minutes before the session to allow time for a prompt start.

Fees

All payments made to TAL are non-refundable and only in exceptional circumstances we accept split payments.

- The deposit for each course is £75. The deposit secures your place on the course until the next course fee is due. Once your deposit is paid, the remainder of the course fee (one full payment) or first split payment is due no less than 21 days before the course start date. If payment is not made within these terms, you may lose your spot on the course.

If the application for the course is submitted within the 21-day period before the beginning of the course, then the full fee or first split payment (deposit + first split payment) for the course is due at the time of the application to secure your space.

- Second and third split payments must be paid before the third and sixth sessions of the term. If you decide not to take the second half of the course, your second and third payments are still due - this is because the overall running of the course is dependent on students’ full course payments.

Any sessions you miss cannot be refunded or carried forward onto the next term.

Admissions

Once your application has been received, it may take up to 3 days to process. Should your application not be successful for any reason, you will be notified and refunded the full £75 deposit.

Student Behaviour

TAL has the right to remove any student from the course with immediate effect if any student is seen in the tutors opinion to not be treating sessions with proper behaviour or respectable conduct. If any student is found to have been drinking alcohol or to be under the influence of drugs when attending any session then TAL has the right to remove that student from the course with immediate effect. If any student is deemed to be verbally abusive, aggressive, repeatedly disrespectful, persistently rude, or showing a quality of behaviour which is not in line with a positive working attitude, TAL has the right to remove that student with immediate effect. Students who are removed will not receive refunds.

Health, Medical and/or Learning Difficulties

In order to help your acting progress, you will be invited to take part in exploring your emotional psychology. There is also physical movement in the classes. It is very important that you inform TAL team of any medical conditions, including (but not limited to): mental health conditions including any neurodivergent conditions, physical conditions, or any relatable factor which may affect you during the course and/or that may require TAL to adjust the training for your learning. In response to this information, you hereby confirm that you are medically, physically and in good mental health and/or fit enough to take part, or if you do have a health condition - that your doctor has advised that you are fit and able enough to take part in such activities and you are disclosing this information at the time of application.

Because TAL wants you to make the most of this experience, it is important that you warn TAL about any disabilities or learning difficulties or disabilities. If you do not inform TAL of any conditions or disabilities before the start of the term, TAL will not be able to help you fully in your journey and/or prevent any misunderstandings. You do therefore take full responsibility for your learning in the knowledge that you may be asked to leave or be moved to a different class due to not being fit for the course you started.

Photo/video permission

During the course, you may have the occasional photo/video taken which may be used for our website and social media. This may benefit you as we have industry professionals who look at our website and social media. As most are happy for usage to go out on social media, we assume that you agree unless you let us know otherwise. Please let us know before your first session if you do not want us to use any photos or videos of you on social media.

As a student, you are not permitted to take any photos or videos in class.

Tutor Attendance

The tutors on the course are working professionals from the industry. However, due to the unpredictable nature of the acting industry, tutors may be called at short notice to work. In such instances, an alternative acting tutor will be provided as cover for you. In the rare case where a session may have to be cancelled, an alternative session will be offered to you.

Visiting Professionals (Advanced Course Only)

With every term TAL sees visits from one or more visiting industry professionals such as a casting director, film director, actor, agent etc. As visiting professionals are working in the acting industry their schedules can suddenly draw them away from planned arrangements. TAL has been successful in seeing industry guests visit but, due to the nature of their schedules, we cannot guarantee their appearance. Please note that sometimes, not all students will show their work during an industry guest session, this is to benefit the student as well as the relationships that TAL has with its visiting professionals - it’s not beneficial for the student or for TAL for all students to perform in front of industry guests if they are not yet at a level to do so.

Spotlight Accreditation

In order to qualify for TAL’s Spotlight Accreditation, you must have completed 6 terms over 3 years. You must attend at least 8 out of the 10 sessions per term and at least 4 out of the 6 over the 6 terms.
